It is time to think about a Star Trek Campaign to mark the 50th Anniversary of the broadcast of the original TV series. How many out there would be interested in participating in a Star Trek at 50 Campaign?

Looking like it's going to be a very small Group Build, Brent.

I was in the campaign last year and had fun, so I would be in for another round of Star Trek!

Stephen, glad to have another person on board. I envision the rules as being similar; wide open to anything Star Trek.

I was watching TOS 'The City On The Edge of Forever'. Hmm, maybe a diorama this time ... 1930 New York City in 1/87 scale with Kirk, Spock and McCoy. I've got some vehicles and NY Brownstone kits from the era. Thinking about it. http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/The_City_on_the_Edge_of_Forever_(episode)

Interesting concept, Brent; but you might have better luck pulling it off visually using 1/35 or 1/48 military figures that 1/87. They're a little small. Just a thought.

My plan is to continue building my 1/2500 Enterprise line with the Enterprise-A (or maybe just the refit).

Thinking about it Jim. I do have quite a few 1/35 military figures.
The scene that I would like to attempt would be is when the three - Kirk, Spock and McCoy meet on the curb in front of the mission.

Thank you Jim, I'm rather pleased with it. It will need be shrunken down to meet the 50x25 campaign ribbon size. I'll need assistance from our editor to do that. I know what I want to work on this time around. More on that later. I need to finish my DS9 Cardassian Galor Class Cruiser and a Roman Warship.

Count me in!

Have a few kits to choose from.
Might actually be a perfect opportunity to build the Warp Models resin USS Grissom I've had stashed away. Too nice a kit and ship to let gather dust.

My submission which I made back in July got sidetracked. I've just resubmitted the Campaign. Here are the proposed details.

Star Trek II The Wrath of North4003
Runs from September 28, 2016 to September 28, 2017
Open to all Star Trek modeling subjects in all scales

Overview:
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek. Star Trek films, television series, books and electronic media have moved this cultural phenomenon into the realm of other timeless works of fiction. In honor of these continuing stories it is time to take out our glue and hobby knives and build something from this science fiction universe. This campaign is open to models from all the Star Trek series with no limit to scale. Individual, figures, dioramas, star ships, vehicles, and gear are all eligible. Kits, kit-bashing and scratch building are encouraged.

Rules:
1. Build a Star Trek subject from a kit, parts or scratch. All scales are fair game.
2. Kits may be partially started, no restrictions on how much work was previously completed.
3. Post photos of the starting point for your build.
4. At least two photos of the completed subject must be posted in the Star Trek II campaign photo album.
5. Have fun.

Award:
One ribbon per Campaign. It looks like this.

So, here is the beginning of my entry for the Group Build. It's the 1/2500 Enterprise-A.

Yes, it's a snap kit, and yes, that's 5 clothespins clamping the Primary Hull together. Kit only has 9 parts, and I'm sure the flash & seams will be a challenge.

Here is the start of my campaign. I am going to work on three kits. The AMT USS Enterprise B with custom Aztec.

An AMT Klingon K'tinga battle cruiser,

and an old Spaceboy productions USS Defiant that I picked up at a model show.

Let's get started!

Some good choices.

I'll be building the Warp Models resin Oberth-Class USS Grissom. One of my favourite Starfleet designs I always wished to see more of on the screen. Despite the beauty of the ship it was only used as an extra in filming, although at one point was seriously considered to feature in DS9 in place of the Runabouts.

The kit comes in a rather unappealing cardboard box.

What's inside is much better. A handful of beautifully cast resin parts and decent looking decals for the Grissom, Vico and the Pegasus.

Warp have used official dimensions and the finished kit is just under 30cm in size and is said to be in 1:537 scale, the same as the AMT USS Enterprise and Reliant kits. Having put the Grissom and Reliant kits side by side I can't see how it would work at that size. The crew would have to be hobbits! I think it works much better at 1/1000. Interestingly the published size of the Oberth is subject to much debate with fans.

I'm looking forward to building her finally.
