Well, my initial post in Real Space didn't get too far, so let's try this.

How about a campaign honoring the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11? It could cover everything real space from Sputnik to Apollo, as I think all of that contributed to the actual landing. Maybe run from January 1 to July 20, 2019.

Any interest?

I think that one key problem is the lack of kits on this subject but I wish you all the best of luck!

Yep, a complete lack of Andy Kaufman figures or Apollo capsules is keeping me out of this campaign.

I've got an Apollo lander in the stash, but not sure I can fit another campaign in to the queue that soon.

That's seven, maybe eight.

I think there are enough kits of early space gear out there to make this work. Anyone else?

I will join this campaign. Ive been wanting to build Estes Little Joe II as my grandpa had some involvement with that part of the program.

Happy Modeling,

Howdy Y'all
Count me in. Don't know what I'll build yet, it will depend what my model club has planned for the 2019 contest schedule. I think I'll have a kit: MPC Vostek, Revell Apollo on the Moon to a re-pop of the rockets that were in the pre-Apollo program. The problem will be locating them in the stash, I should make a box of space and sci-fi kits soon, I'm starting to collect more of them.
Take care,

Mike,
Perhaps changing up the campaign idea a little might help generate some interest. Letting the Airplane and ship builders join by posting in there area might help. I believe NASA aircraft as well as ships used in recovering the capsules could be added to the campaign.
I've heard or read that the bravest man on the Apollo mission was the Navy frogman who opened the capsule door after splashdown. Apparently the odor was very strong.
Take care,

LOL
But interesting campaign idea. Seen some kits of space age covering a lot of that period at Victory Models.
Even got the online NASA landing certificate for landing the ship on the moon. 2 days in a row following the virtual landing on the net some 5 years ago. I think about joining this one. Never build space craft and Apollo 11 is just special.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

Is this campaign a "Go"? I think we have 10 interested Space Geeks so far. Now, I just have to find my kit in the stash.
Take care,

OK, proposal submitted!

As a first crack at a ribbon (assuming it's approved), I thought I'd go simple and stark:

What do you all think?

I kinda like Thomas's design, I'm afraid the footprint would be too hard to see. What does everyone else think?

A flag with date would be nice to add to Thomas proposal, which is also ok with me, but projects the goal to it's date.
I will search for a kit from Airfix, have some goodies eyeballed, so it comes close to join this one from my side.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan
