I've been picking up some of Master Box's 1/24 figures with the idea of converting them. I haven't gotten much work done on them, so this seems like a good opportunity to push the idea.

The idea is a Borderlands influenced settlement populated by Terran and alien races. So futuristic but with some fantasy undertones.

My backup plan is a spacecraft (cutaway) in 1/35 scale.

My backup-backup plan is a fantasy diorama...a throwback to Dungeons & Dragons.

Which means that when it's done...I'll end up doing something else.

My build will probably be most likely a figure of sorts. Possibly Industria Mechanika's Freaky Gothic or more fantasy oriented build. What I'd really like to build is traffic warden from movie Threads, but that's for a later campaign.

I have one of my son's Warhammer figures that he has lost interest in, an Orc Boar Rider, but also have a Fine Moulds X-wing as well. Two very different choices....

Cool choice, eMan. One would think a bust was a simple build, but looking at all that plastic it seems otherwise.

Great ideas for the campaign.

The campaign has officially started! I will pick up where I left in Sci-Fi V with my Revell 1/56 AT-AT that has been detroyed.
More to follow soon.

Any ideas/designs for ribbon is gladly accepted. Otherwise I will make one myself.

Didn't even manage to do a single thing to it last campaign so lets see if I can make a start this time.

Changed my mind, and here's actual start picture:

I'll probably replace cabin/quarterdeck with extra turret. Also the radar antennas will go (or be replaced with something), because they are quite heavily built for the scale.

Time to get this one started.

The general idea is a futuristic colony where humans and alien races co-exist. Beyond that, I'm sort of playing it by ear. This project was started a while back as a tavern scene. I moved away from that initial layout to try to show more of a street scene layout. They'll be some working and reworking as this build plays out. It probably sounds silly, but I'm letting the figures direct how this one goes.

The figures are mostly Masterbox 1/24 scale figures. I got interested in them from their Edge of the Universe series and started planning a build using them. I branched out to other sets. Most of these figures are designed to be used with auto kits. This limits their use. They are a little larger than 1/35 but the added size akes them easier to work with. Most are female, provacatively posed, and usually scantily dressed...often in heels. The lack of dress leaves a "blank figure" to add details too.

As mentioned earlier, some of these figures have been worked on. Alot of them, I went ahead and checked fit and went ahead and glued the torso halves together. There should still be enough work to the project to not be an issue. But if there is, I can shift gears to a back-up project.

The first pair of figure sets are Marylin (left) and Back Off (right). Marylin is from MB's Pin-up Series and is also available in 1/35. Back Off is one of MB's Edge of the Universe (EOU) sets. The female figure is given as Bgala, a warrioress/hunter. The robot, Boomer, is a fighting robot.
The plan for Marylin is to make her a stealth/assassin for hire. She has a sister, who you will see later, so her design will go hand-in-hand with hers.
Bgala has had work done. She's been reworked a couple of times...having been a "sporting lady" at the original tavern layout. I'll robably return her to a hunter. I'll give her some practical hunting clothing. She does have a robotic arm...it's 1/32 from Pegasus' Terminator figures but looks right. I'm not sure if she'll be human or alien.
Boomer will be reworked to be a more animal-based robot pet for Bgala.
SF6_01
SF6_01a

Next up are Kate: I'll Be Right There (left) and Bob & Sally: The Happy Couple (right). Both of these are in the early stages of development. Kate has been given the beginnings of a hip holster. I really don't know waht I'll do with Bob & Sally. I bought this set because it had a male figure. The poses are pretty limiting. We'll see how it plays out.
SF6_02
SF6_02a

Here we have two more EOU sets; Don't Even Think... (left) and Keep Moving, Nothing to See Here, Everything is Under Control (right). Jacqueline, as they call her, has had her top reworked. Originally, she was to be the tavern owner's sister and enforcer. I'm thinking more about having her as a gunslinger/gambler.
The other set...the tall male will be playing a game of chance with Jacqueline. I'll rework the head, maily to get rid of the mohawk. The smaller figure will be an alien with a reworked head and no jetpack.
Both of these sets come with a single section of bar and a single barstool. MB should have sent more so a reasonable bar could be made. I plan on making my own bar, using this for sizing.
SF6_03
SF6_03a

These are At the Edge of the Universe, Strange Company's Adventures. Episode 1, The first Meeting (left) and Betty (right).
Strange Company is an EOU set and includes an Aliens Colonial Marine styled fighter. He's been given a sidearm and had his left arm straightened. The original arm posing was pretty bad. I will probably load him up with gear, like he's just arrived or fixing to leave. The third figure is a robot waitress. I'll probably keep her in that role.
The robot wil be reworked to be the bartender. I'm leaning to using the upper body and ditching the kit's legs for a wheel-based bottom. It seems more practical for a bartender.
Betty is a pin-up, also available in 1/35. I bought her to be a statue for another build idea. If I use her, I'll come up with something. Her pose is somewhat fixed as MB molded her hand to the flagpole.
SF6_04
SF6_04a

Moving on, we have Hitchhikers: Erica & Kery (left) and Ali: #Status Check (right). I'm not sure what the Hitchhikers will used for. The one in the skirt favors Ali, so that might be a uniform. Then again, the skirt may not even be used. Same thing with Ali, I guess. Mainly, they were picked up to flesh out the original tavern scene.
SF6_05
SF6_05a

Here we have two more Pin-up Series sets. Samantha (left) and A Short Stop (right). Samantha screams bargirl and probably will be sitting on the bar, possibly watching Jacqueline and the guy paying a game. Maybe they are playing for her...attention. The other one...I'm not sure what I'll do with her.
SF6_06
SF6_06a

The white figures on the left are from a Bandai Brutish Dog kit. They are 1/20 scale and therefore a little large. I might try to use them in some manner. The figure on the right is a MB PinUp figure. I don't have the box anymore. I have given her body armor, belt pouches, and reworked her legs for boots. She was intended to be an alien so she has a tail. I plan on reworking her head a bit and give her horns, pointed ears, etc. She is planned to be Marylin's sister so what I do with one will be similar to the other.
SF6_07

I've got three Bandai Zakus. They are assembled but still need painting and some mods. Due to their size I'm not sure if I will use them. Ideally, I'd like to have them patrolling the street as the enforcement elements of The Law. I'm not sure if I'll do the street scene. I'm liking the idea of a cutaway space vessel with the figures.
SF6_08

This is the original tavern building. Originally, the idea was for it to serve as a shadow box with the figures inside. Then adding the street came into play. I scrapped the initial shadowbox idea and...if I go with the street scene...I'll hack this up and use the ends as the partial buildings on each side of the street.
I also included the lower hull of an old Academy LVTP. It's doubtful but it might be made into a transport vehicle. The truth is, I probably won't use it but it was sitting there and I don't want to retake the pictures.
SF6_09

Anyway, that's the start. This is going to be a chaotic build and there's probably going to be a lot of changes as I go.

Great to see we are of to a good start.

An ambitious build as always, Alex. Looking forward to follow it and see it take shape.

Pasi, nice kit. I was tempted many times by this so it will be interesting to see it build.

A quick update. I'm trying to stay on top of updates this go-around.

I went ahead and worked up the layout for the spaceship idea. Once you put it out there on paper...well it's huge. So that means I'll be doing the street scene instead. You may see the spaceship in SciFiAlt pt 7 or 8 ...but in a smaller scale.
SF6_10

I did get some work done on Bgala. I gave her some trousers, cleaned up her body armor, and gave her a hood. I see her as a ranger type character. I went back and forth on human or alien for her. I decided to give her the hood to sort of keep that ambiguous.
She's still got some work...her weapon, her full kit, and her robot doggie. I should have that done for the next update.

Howdy Y'all
I'm still toying around with ideas for my build. Right now I'm leaning towards building a pair of Bandai's AT-M6 Walkers and putting them on a base painted to look like the surface of the planet Crait.

I would've liked to build a larger vignette with more walkers. The problem is the legs are not poseable, they are molded in a fixed position. A vignette of multiple walkers would show them all lifting the same leg, in the same position, at the same time. This is statistically improbable although not impossible. Since the scale is approximately 1:550 one may be able to get away with it. I'll have to think about this a little more.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Don, can you build one of the pair by swapping its front and rear legs? That could give you the different leg poses you want.

Just enlisted, not sure what I'll be building yet.

I have a Moebius Viper Mk 1 that I've done a little bit to.

base painted the cockpit
glued the landing gear halves together and base coated
glued the engine cowling area together
glued the vertical stabilizer together

Would that count as less than 25%?

If so, I'll photograph it and submit as a start picture.

Oh okay... I don't really do Star Wars models and pretty much ignore any films outside of the original trilogy. I don't know what to suggest besides cutting and adjusting the legs. That small of a size, it probably wouldn't be worth the effort.

Alex-thanks for the ideas, I think I would build them all SOOB. Maybe I'll buy one or two more, build them and see how it looks. I'm thinking that if I build them at different times I would paint them slightly different and that would help out.

Start picture for the Moebius 1:32 Viper Mk1.

The pilots in the corner are a Revell one, an MMI resin one (headless at this moment) as well as the Moebius kit one. Not sure I'm going to use any figure in the cockpit at this time. I'm guessing it will depend on if I am satisfied with the way it looks with or without a figure.

Filled the slot for the stand as I almost never build a starfighter or plane in flight (Capital ships, Tie Fighters and B-Wings would be the only exceptions).

Progress shot, assemblies completed and dry fit. Next up-a good wash in soapy water to remove any residue and then some primer.

I still haven't decided if I'll build more and model a vignette of a battle line. The fuel tanks are left off on the spruce and I'll prime and paint before cutting them off.

More progress. To be honest, there has been a lot of trial and error work that I am not going to post.

Bgala got a base-coat of green. It's a bit shiney but I plan on repainting the cloth parts of her wardrobe, probably camo. I gave her some kit. Her robot pet was given a tale. I had tried a few things but settled for a peice of tow cable and added a base and tip. This adds to the animal image and gives it a weapon. The figure set has a pack for the bot but I'm not sure if I'll use it. The rifle is the one that came with the set. I added some to the butt-stock.
I still see her as a ranger type, possibly former military but discharged due to "the arm situation". I see her as a bounty hunter living out in the country. Her bot was given to her when she was discharged. It's "linked" to her and would be worthless to anyone except Bgala.
SF6_12--

I'm still debating on this one. I still want to use her as a waitress at the bar. Her limbs and pelvis look robotic, yet her upper torso doesn't...particularly her stomach. I was thinking of cutting out her midrift and try to rework her lower torso to look more mechanical. I'm also thinking about giving her a skirt to cover her badonka-donk.
SF6_13

Not a lot of work done on these....at least the two males. The female was assembled and base-painted. I think I'm going to try to add some detail to her jacket. I'm still debating on her race (space elf, space devil, or human).
SF6_14
SF6_15

With some figure work in the books, I started working on the base. I took the old building and cut it in two. I'll reuse these to make two cutaway buildings. I'll tweak the layout and then cut the buildings to proper size.
The figures were placed to see how it works. The idea is to present a scene with many sub-stories going on.
SF6_16

The bar is a point of focus, because in D&D adventures seem to begin in a tavern. This build seems to be leaning towards a sci-fi D&D theme. The pair at the bar are mostly locked in as playing a game of chance. The brawny armored guy may be a merc, member of the garrison, or a new arrival. He's caught the ye of one of the devil girls who is trying to close the deal possibly by including her "sister" in to the mix.
The bar still needs furnishing, a bartender, etc. I plan on cuttng down the building's height...it was origially a 2-story building. It'll still have a high ceiling just to allow easier viewing.
SF6_17

Out on the street, I am looking to fill the space with foot-traffic, citizens, and some street merchants. I allowed for a lot of street space because I had planned on using the BanDai Zakus...and they need a lot of space. To save shelf space I might switch over to a smaller base so the street size would decrease. That's all wide open and I really haven't given it much thought.
SF6_18

I'm definitely liking this general layout better than the previous one-building design. I'm not sure what the other building will be. I probably won't use the BanDai Zakus. They take up so much room and I've got two more coming in this week. I think those will be used for something else...warhammer influenced.
