SKANK MAN 1/7 scale resin figure from Rock-Kit Productions - original illustration by Shawn Kerri - D. M. Grant

Skank Man, also know as the Skanking Kid or the Skanking Guy on the Circle Jerks album was originally drawn by Shawn Kerri (Shawn Maureen Fitzgerald). Shawn Kerri was part of the Southern California punk scene in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Bass player in the band, The Cockpits, her professional illustration background included drawing for MAD magazine, CRACKED magazine, Hustler, early Last Gasp titles such as Cocaine Comics and Commies from Mars, and most consistently to CARtoons. In 1978 she cofounded a punk zine with her then-boyfriend "Mad" Marc Rude titled Rude Situation.

Rock-Kit Productions - RPK #27 of Skank Man is a 1/7 scale resin kit with brass chain links and wire. Also includes one paper graphic for the record center label and 2 decals for the figure’s shirt. I can’t tell if it’s a water slide decal or not yet. I’ll comment later when I get to it.

Sculpted by D. M. Grant, the figure detail style is true to the original cartoon illustration. Chunky but consistently so. The cast quality looks good and typically with resin figure kits of this scale, there are seam lines and some cleanup in order. I haven’t seen any pin holes yet but will report later when I start the kit if they exist.
